"Mi Amor Por Ti/My Love for You"
by Susan L. Roth

My baby girl during her first days with us.
This, my friends, was the first book I ever bought my daughter after her arrival. The loving title “Mi Amor Por Ti” caught my attention as well as the fact that it was a bilingual (Spanish/English) counting book.  Then the icing on the cake was the difference in color between mother and child.  It may seem like a small detail but for me, it was a sweet representation of our family story.

The author/illustrator, Susan Roth, created colorful, collage illustrations of animals that are so inviting to people of any age.  What’s amazing is how intricate she makes her collages that you don’t even notice they’re made out of paper (at least I didn’t for years).  From the animals to the picturesque backgrounds, it is really a work of art that would be fun to try to replicate when your child is older.

Susan’s words are simple yet intentional and fun, making it more than just your average counting board book.  Here’s the English ending to give you an idea:

“My love for you is loftier than 10 lovebirds soaring high above the clouds, and greater than all of these together… Forever.”

I don’t ever do this but the review on Amazon was just so spot on, I had to quote it here:

“In both Spanish and English, two tiny mice express their love in big terms. On a walk together, the mice learn that their love is bigger than 1 bear, taller than 2 giraffes, larger than 3 blue whales. As they count from 1 to 10, the mice discover that their love is greater than anything they can imagine. Siempre. Forever.”

Enjoy this little bilingual book of love perfect for little fingers!
