"The Girl Who Stole an Elephant"
by Nizrana Farook

Looking for a new adventure for your older child to read on their own this summer?  Or maybe a fun read aloud for the family?  “The Girl Who Stole an Elephant” would do the trick!

Nizrana Farook takes us on a fictional escapade where we meet Chaya, a clever and resourceful young girl with the gift of gab. But when she can’t talk her way out of stealing the Queen’s jewels, despite her noble reason for doing so, “she escapes on the back of a stolen elephant and leads her friends on a jungle adventure, where leeches lurk and revolution is stirring.”

Filled with rich imagery that transports the reader to Ancient Sri Lanka, Farook does a wonderful job at creating a daring, dynamic and loyal lead character in Chaya.  My daughter enjoyed this book so much, she couldn’t put it down and read it in one day!
